Our political systems are too slow in informing the people off the dangers of consumerism.
People buy stuff ... it's good for the economy, ok. But sometimes people buy stuff and don't know what they are buying.
Because stuff can be poisonousness manufactured by slaves or are most likely unnecessary or even useless and making us addicted to buying more stuff.
It is the task of the government, just like on cigarette boxes, to put signs on the products so that people are aware of what they buy. Maybe the price will be higher on some things but if we start thinking before buying the world will change.
We can consume and fight consumerism at the same time, without going back to the middle ages.
We can have computers and vacation and still live in harmony with our surroundings.
